Getting rid of acne is something all acne sufferers want to know how to do. Acne, in its various forms, looks and often feels unpleasant. Anyone who has acne wants to get rid of pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. We have to remember that acne comes in several different forms and that several factors can contribute to acne; therefore, to cure acne you have to take these factors into consideration.
Before we discuss actual acne treatments, let’s talk about a few tips that will help you clear acne.
– Keep your hands away from your face, or other acne prone parts of your body unless absolutely necessary. And absolutely must, cleanse your hands beforehand. Touching transfers dirt and oil and can irritate the skin, making a great place for a breakout.
– Change your pillowcases and bed sheets often (replace your pillowcase daily if possible).
– Always wear clean clothing, even sleeping clothes (this means only wear them once and then wash before you wear it again). We may not get something dirty and tend to just throw it back on again before we wash it; or think that because we’re only sleeping in our sleep wear, that they’re not dirty when in reality they have picked up dirt, oil and dead dry skin. Acne prone individuals need to keep this in mind.
– Bathe often. Don’t try to skip a day, that’s a catastrophe for acne prone skin. Cleanse your face in the morning and in the evening before you go to sleep (and even in the middle of the day if your skin is overly oily).
– Be aware of the ingredients in your detergent and fabric softener, some detergents include perfumes or other irritant ingredients. Try to use a detergent free from these ingredients.
– Keep hair out of your face to cut down on oil transfer to your face from your hair and hair products (which can contain ingredients that contribute to pore clogging). If your hair must be in your face (bangs, etc.) clean the places it touches frequently and keep oil sheets to dab on those areas of your face throughout the day to get rid of oil.
– Consume a lot of water! Water purifies your body and skin inside and out.
This list of tips are important to maintaining clear skin and get rid of acne. Now let’s get into some of the treatments you can use.
For getting rid of acne fast, you’ll need to implement treatments that include salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. There are an array of products that contain one of these ingredients from face washes to gels that remain on the skin. For a bad breakout, you might want to consider the face wash in addition to gel being placed on the actual pimples or breakout areas (skipping non infected areas to prevent excessive drying). You can use white toothpaste on a pimple to help reduce it overnight (never use any color but white or you might color your skin). Using a face cleanser that also contains exfoliant beads is good for exfoliating while cleansing your face.
Never pop pimples. They only become uglier and can become infected and you can spread the bacteria to surrounding areas, just begging for another zit to pop up.
No matter the type of acne you suffer, you can be acne free if you’re aware of the things that cause acne. Instead of spending time popping pimples, arm yourself in your war of getting rid of acne and prevent it!
