It’s difficult to lose weight and keep yourself on track. But following these 7 simple rules can help you lose the weight you want and keep it off.
1) Get rid of your fat clothes. Don’t keep clothes in your closet that are larger than what you’re currently wearing. If you have clothes that are too big get rid of them immediately. Just knowing that you won’t have anything to wear if you gain any more weight can help you slim down and make better food choices. However it’s also a good idea to keep one piece of clothing that is too big on you so every time you look at it you can be reminded of how far you’ve come and where you never want to return.
2) Pay attention to portions. One of the fastest ways to lose weight is lowering our portion sizes. If you have problems with portion control join a club that sends you food already in the perfect portion. This can cost some money but it isn’t something you have to do forever. Just do it long enough until you learn what proper portion sizes are.
3) Feel the burn. Try to get out and walk or exercise 3-5 times day. Wear a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps to maintain your weight and 15,000 steps to lose weight. You should also add weight training a few days a week. You can do this with a strength training video or with affordable dumb bells.
4) Follow the three pound rule. Take your weight once a week at the same time each week. If you have weight gain of 3 pounds or more, you should go back to your diet.
5) Walk on an incline. If you’re walking outside or on your treadmill walk up hill at a good incline. This will help you to burn more calories and also strengthen more muscles.
6) Be someone else’s motivator. When you remind someone else to eat better or to exercise you’re also reminding yourself to do the same.
7) Try fat blasting interval training. Warm up for three to five minutes and a slow to moderate pace. For the next 20 minutes alternate one minute high intensity exercise with one minute of a lower intensity. Then finish with a 2-3 minute cool down. If can’t fit in 30 minutes then try to squeeze in 20 minutes.
